Family Child Care Business Courses
These courses will examine the basic skills of small business management for individuals interested in operating a family child care program. It will highlight the best practices that are unique to the child care industry.
Family Child Care Contracts and Policies
Chat sessions: Mondays from 7:00-7:45 p.m. CST October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2010
Participants who successfully complete this training will be able to set their own rules for their programs; establish a business relationship with parents; use props to communicate their business rules; avoid violating anti-discrimination laws; create contracts and policies that contain key elements; enforce contracts with parents; resolve conflicts with parents; end contracts with parents; enforce the contract in court.

Introduction to Family Child Care Marketing

Family Child Care Legal and Insurance Issues

Participants who successfully complete this training will be able to manage the risks of operating a family child care business, establish rules of safety, establish rules to reduce custody disputes with parents, define the Americans with Disabilities Act, identify insurance coverage for family child care businesses, and define business structures.

Family Child Care Money Management and Retirement
Chat sessions: Thursdays from 7:00-7:45 p.m. CST February 17, 24 March 3 and 10, 2011
Participants who successfully complete this training will be able to identify strategies to manage money by reducing spending and increasing savings, learn techniques for eliminating debt and raising income, define how to set financial goals, learn how to prepare for retirement by defining how much to save for retirement, learn how to estimate Social Security benefits, how to choose and IRA plan, how to choose the type of investments that best suit their individual needs, and how to work with a financial advisor.
