Learn some early indicators of mental illness in young children, infancy through preschool age, that can often be misinterpreted or overlooked.
Discover strategies for identifying children who are worried, stressed, or distressed in the early childhood environment, in order to facilitate timely intervention.
Learn how young children present distress at different ages, what can trigger strong responses, and what to look for. We will go back to our programs with new ways of thinking about unexplained behaviors or something that just doesn’t seem right.
Early care and education providers often have many excellent and timely opportunities to learn information about Trauma Informed Care. This course focuses on identifying those children who can very much benefit from such approaches. Before we can provide the care they need, we have to be able to sort through their behaviors and signals, see what may not be easy to see, and say, “This child needs our help.”
